Roads? Where these DeLoreans are going, they unfortunately do need roads.

For October 21, 2015, a.k.a. the date that Marty McFly travels to the future in Back to the Future Part II, Lyft will be offering free DeLorean rides to users in New York City. The Lyft app will feature a “McFly Mode” from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, which users can toggle to send a sans-Flux Capicitor DeLorean DMC-12 their way.

Lyft teamed up with Verizon and Universal for the promotion, and they’re not the first ride-sharing service to organize trips in the gull-winged pop culture icon. Uber set up a similar promotion with General Electric in 2013 when they gave free DeLorean rides to users in San Francisco.

Unlike that event, this promotion coincides with Back to the Future Day, which is sure to attract hordes of plastic necktie-wearing, inside-out jeans-sporting fans. In an attempt to keep up with the expected demand, Lyft is shipping in DMC-12s from all over the country. Even if they won't include hover mode, a fleet of 1980s DeLoreans rolling through NYC is the perfect way to celebrate 2015.
