Watch a Basketball Explode in Slow Motion

Kirstin Fawcett

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if you over-filled a basketball with an air compressor, your answer lies in the above video. A YouTube user who calls himself Crazy Russian Hacker pumped up a ball and filmed its explosion in slow motion. While you likely learned in Physics 101 that too much air pressure could cause a ball to burst, it’s still fascinating to watch one split at the seams. And it's a good thing he shows it in slow motion—the initial pop happens too quickly to catch with the naked eye.
