This Bluetooth-Enabled Smart Frying Pan Takes the Guesswork Out of Cooking
By Rudie Obias
Unsure of when to flip a steak or burger? Ever burn a chicken breast or overcook poached eggs? A new Bluetooth-enabled frying pan (yes, we said frying pan) is ready to take the guesswork out of cooking altogether. Pantelligent is a 12-inch non-stick frying pan with a Bluetooth sensor and special temperature gauge built into its handle.
It works by connecting the frying pan to an iPhone or Android device via an app and Bluetooth. Once connected and synced, the Pantelligent app will provide you with real-time, step-by-step instructions on how to cook a number of simple recipes, from mushroom risotto to zucchini pancakes. The app will then walk you through every step of the recipe, all while letting you know the precise temperature of your pan and whether or not to adjust its heat. The smart frying pan will even send your device notifications and updates if you wander away from the stovetop.
Pantelligent launched as a Kickstarter campaign in November 2014 and was named one of TIME’s 25 Best Inventions of 2015 a year later. The smart frying pan isn’t cheap—it retails for $199 and is available at Pantelligent's website—but it’s a small price to pay for a lifetime of perfectly cooked meals.
