This summer, Star Trek will turn 50. Considering that the original series spawned four spin-off TV shows, 12 movies (with a 13th arriving this summer), an animated series, and countless books and comics, the iconic franchise truly adhered to its “Live long and prosper” salute. Now, in honor of the show’s birthday, the United States Postal Service is issuing four commemorative postal stamps that pay homage to the Trekkie legacy.

The Star Trek Forever Stamps are emblazoned with digital illustrations that reference iconic imagery from The Original Series: the silhouette of a crewman in a transporter, the outline of the Starship Enterprise inside the Vulcan salute or a Starfleet insignia, and the contours of the Enterprise from above. (For legal reasons, WIRED reports that the design firms responsible for creating the stamps couldn’t use anyone’s exact likeness.)

According to the Tampa Bay Times, this isn’t the first time Star Trek has beamed its way into our mailboxes. In 1999, the Enterprise graced a stamp that was released as part of a series inspired by the 1960s. Bottom line? If you’re a philatelist who loves Star Trek and didn’t score a prized piece of postage the first time around, here’s your chance.
