The New iPhone Might Be Waterproof

You’ll never again have to type the sentence “sorry, my phone fell in the toilet!” or explain to the Apple tech why there’s dried rice stuck in your phone. Apple’s next iPhone might be much safer to wield around rain puddles and bathroom stalls, a new rumor suggests. An anonymous “source with knowledge of the company’s plans” told Fast Company the product will be waterproof. (The Samsung Galaxy phone may also be joining that club.)
Unfortunately, this wonderful news is accompanied by the less-joyous prospect of having to toss your old headphones out and buy a new wireless set. The company is also swapping out its 3.5mm headphone jack for a Lightning port. Goodbye, headphones that worked with multiple devices; it’s been great knowing you.
Still, take all this with a grain of salt. Even if these anonymous rumors are true now, it’s not out of the question that Apple would change up the design between now and the phone's release date (new gadgets are usually rolled out at a big Apple event in September).
