Instagram Creates Whimsical Stop-Motion Paper Animations
By Alvin Ward

Artist Rachel Ryle draws illustrations that she can interact with—thanks to the power of stop-motion animation. The animator's Instagram videos show her creating objects that seem to come alive as she finishes drawing them, including lighting up and moving seemingly on their own.
Many of the videos celebrate holidays and share festive imagery. For instance, Ryle created a haunted house in honor of Halloween and made a New Year's toast with paper champagne.
Her work has been used in a Starbucks ad as well as named the most creative Instagram account by Buzzfeed in 2013. When she's not animating, you can find her traveling and illustrating the cities she visits. Check out a few of her creations below or visit her Instagram account.
