Mashup Shows the Awesome Precision of The Simpsons Movie Parodies

Over the years, The Simpsons has gleefully parodied more movies than most people have even seen. The cartoon is packed with irreverent pop culture references and classic film homages, recreated to fit into the show's clever plotlines. While most of us are aware that the series' creators enjoy a good movie parody, we might not realize just how faithful some of these tributes have been.

Fortunately, Vimeo users Celia Gomez and Jesús Sahuquillo Olivares have created a Simpsons mashup that places moments from the cartoon side-by-side with the films they reference. The video includes iconic moments from A Clockwork Orange (1971), Requiem For a Dream (2000), The Shining (1980), and more (warning: some of the source material is NSFW).

What's truly amazing is how the show's creators manage to retain each film's themes and each shot's framing while trading out its characters, settings, and props. At just over three minutes, the video certainly doesn’t include every Simpsons movie reference, but it does showcase some of the very best. Check it out above.
