Underwater Rugby: It Exists

The University of New South Wales in Australia has an underwater rugby club, and its members want you to know—in case you couldn't figure it out on your own—it’s awesome. A few years ago, the club put out a promotional video for what it calls “the greatest sport you’ve never played,” which looks a little like a cross between rugby, water polo, and a breath-holding contest at the local pool. And unlike most regular rugby, it's co-ed. Atlas Obscura spotted the video this week, alerting the world to this weird and wonderful niche sport. Who among us hasn’t looked at rugby and thought, “This would be more fun if no one could breathe!”
