This is How Rainbow Sprinkles Come Together

Rebecca OConnell

Ever wonder how rainbow sprinkles are made? This episode of How It's Made has all the delicious answers. Each color of sprinkle is made individually—from what the host describes as a "variety of liquid and food colorants," shortening, and other ingredients—and then eventually mixed together in a tumbler. After that, it takes about five minutes for all the colors to be properly shuffled. Once they're combined, they're ready to be bottled and sold (hopefully for ice cream parties). Learn more about the process in the clip above.
