Pairing cantaloupe with cheese isn't totally unheard of—in fact, it makes for a perfectly acceptable snack, mixing sweet and savory in a completely sane way. Turning the pairing into a Kit Kat flavor however, seems neither acceptable nor sane, but the brazen candy company has never been one to turn away from a challenge. As a result, we now have "Hokkaido Melon with Mascarpone Cheese," which is being sold at select airports in Japan.
The new and adventurous candy is made with a Hokkaido melon and mascarpone cheese powder in its wafers. The outside is covered in a thick layer of white chocolate. Perhaps sensing that the flavor's value is strictly for novelty, Kit Kat is only selling the bar in certain Japanese airports in "mini" size packaging. Other similar airport options come in far more mundane flavors: “Japanese Strawberry“, “Uji Matcha” and “Sakura Matcha.”
