Chicago Luxury Hotel Hires New Concierge: a One-Eyed Pug

Move over, Matilda the Algonquin Hotel cat. According to the Chicago Tribune, The Park Hyatt on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue recently hired a new concierge that’s just as cute and fuzzy as the famous East Coast kitty: a one-eyed female pug named Parker.

Parker is a rescue dog from Tennessee. She was found badly injured, but animal welfare group Pets Are Worth Saving (PAWS) nursed her back to health. Parker spent some time in a foster home before PAWS finally found Parker a loving forever home with the Park Hyatt’s general manager, Walter Brindell.

Parker now spends her days clad in a Burberry bandanna, greeting hotel guests and escorting them to their rooms. The busy pooch also attends staff meetings, and in her spare time she enjoys relaxing in the hotel’s rooftop garden. “She’s a very quiet, reserved pup, and she loves everybody,” Brindell told the Tribune.

Not surprisingly, the hotel’s guests love her too. They often ask for Parker by name, or pose for photographs with the pampered pug. She “brings in an element to hotel environment that was not there before,” Brindell told the Tribune.
