From the creative minds that gave the world potato chip-flavored soda come two new flavors inspired by Japanese palates. Rocketnews 24 reports that the Kimura Drink Company now offers sodas that taste like Umeboshi (pickled plums) and Takuan (pickled daikon radish). The drinks were reportedly designed to complement white rice dishes, just as their base ingredients do in traditional Japanese cuisine.

Both drinks have the "same salty, pickled flavor of the original ingredient, only with a pleasant and refreshingly sweet aftertaste," according to Rocketnews 24. They're available now for pre-order at a cost of 3700 yen (about $35) for a box of 20 8-ounce bottles, and delivery is expected by June 18 for Japan's Rice Ball (Onigiri) Day.
