Diving boards have been around for thousands of years...but what actually goes into a modern board? It has to be strong but resilient, it has to hold up to getting wet, and it can't be too slippery.
In this How It's Made clip, we see the process from start to finish. The finished diving board is a surprisingly complex sandwich of fiberglass and laminated wood. A surprise to me is that the "ribs" on the bottom of the board are just the wooden planks inside the thing. Enjoy:
