Whether you love it or hate it (or love to hate it), you have to admit that Comic Sans—the cartoon-like, sans-serif font designed by typographic engineer Vincent Connare in the mid-1990s—is utterly unique. Great Big Story interviewed Connare, who explains his inspiration for creating Comic Sans, how it reflects his own personal design philosophy, and why it’s “probably the best thing” he’s ever done, even though he admits it’s technically not that great.
