It was a hangover that inspired English writer Guy Beringer to write his essay, published in 1895, "Brunch: A Plea," in which he outlined a vision for the brighter world that we now live in on weekends, in which breakfast, lunch, and maybe a couple mimosas converge in one superior meal. We'll drink to that.
