The Big Cloud is a catalog of beautiful, ominous portraits of severe weather.
Camille Seaman is not your average storm chaser. The Berkeley-based photographer, known for her dramatic images of polar ice, first got interested in storms after catching an episode of the TV show Storm Chasers while vacuuming the house one day. Just a few weeks later, she got a gig as a driver for a professional storm chaser. Seaman’s latest book, The Big Cloud, is a collection of the photos she has captured during her adventures across the Midwest.
“My first storm chase was biblical in every sense of the word,” she writes in the book. “I was in awe, my mouth hanging open. I was watching creation. The same forces that created our planet were right there in front of me in this spinning vortex.”
Here are just a few of the eye-catching cloud photos she captured in the process.
The Big Cloud is available for $32 on Amazon.
