Watch Rare HD Footage of New York City in 1993

Back in 1993, New York City was a little different: Times Square was still a little bit seedy, the hands of pedestrians were iPhone free, and people were still wearing their hair big and their mustaches without hipster irony. All of those little differences, and more, are on full display in the wonderful little slice-of-life video above.

Filmed as a demo of HD footage for a Japanese company in 1993, the short video provides five minutes of footage so clear, it looks like it could have been filmed today. Touring iconic New York City landmarks like Times Square, South Street Seaport, St. Marks Place, Central Park, and the Brooklyn Bridge, the video shows how the Big Apple has changed over the last two decades. Check it out above.
