Steve Gartland started his career at The L Magazine in Brooklyn, where he was a copy-editor and writer of occasional movie reviews and short pieces about forgotten bits of New York City history. A lover of beer, Steve co-wrote a 2007 feature about cask ales for CHOW.com. He makes his living through editing textbooks ranging from the elementary level up to the college level. Steve recently started a linkblog called The One O’Clock Jump (www.the1pmjump.com). He lives in Chicago with his wife, daughter, and mentally ill cat, Coley.
