Iconic Movies of the 1980s and 1990s
The ‘80s and ‘90s had great movies millennials grew up on. If you loved fantasy and some horror comedy, then you likely turned your attention to Ghostbusters and Gremlins. They were packed with entertaining soundtracks, fun chasing moments, and life lessons along the way.
What if you were more in love with adventure that you wanted to be a part of? The Goonies will forever be one of those standout films to put on when you’re feeling down. We also can’t overlook Back to the Future, and its sequels, which all told connected stories in ways that movies simply didn’t at that time. I think we all also grew up wishing that we could have been part of Kevin’s Christmas in Home Alone.
Of course, there were movies that absolutely broke our hearts. The NeverEnding Story is a film that will always stand out as one with the scene we can never love again. Personally, I do think the ending somewhat negated the loss, but my heart broke the first time watching Atreyu desperately pulling Artax out of the swamp. We’re all still emotionally scarred, right?
Needed horror? The time period has your back even more. The Shining kicked off the 1980s in style, and while Stephen King didn’t love the adaptation, there’s no doubt that viewers did. To end the decade, we’re got Misery, is one of the best King adaptations of all time. There’s no argument.
