Published in its entirety in 1921, Full of Fun was a vast, 400-page anthology of entertainments that brought together three earlier volumes of “conundrums, jokes, and talks” (i.e. monologues and topical discussions on a wild variety of subjects, including “a few remarks on pants” and “patents applied for”). Each of the book’s three parts were the work of three different writers, with the puzzles written by the prolific American author and riddle-writer Dean Rivers.
Like many of Rivers’s puzzles, some of those in Full of Fun were word-playing poems and verses, each line of which acts as a clue to a different syllable of the answer word. Can you work out what (very appropriate) 10-letter word is being described in the quiz below?
