The Red Moon refers to the hazy summer skies that can give it a reddish appearance, while the Corn and Grain Moons signal the approaching harvest season.

Sitting between July’s Buck Moon and September’s Harvest Moon, the Sturgeon Moon marks summer’s final stretch—and a bridge to a season dedicated to reaping life’s bounty.

The sturgeon’s life story lends context to its spiritual meaning. This ancient fish can live longer than 400 years, spending most of its life dwelling deep underwater near the lake bottom.
