Most Quotable Lines from the Movies of the ‘60s

There are always going to be some lines that stand out more than others, and they would have immediately told you the answer. After all, if we’d have put in the line “Bond. James Bond,” or “A martini. Shaken, not stirred,” you would have known that they came from the James Bond franchise. Of course, you would then need to figure out which movie exactly—Dr. No for the former and Goldfinger for the latter—but those are two of the most memorable lines from the entire franchise.

The Italian Job is often another firm favorite for people to quote. Who doesn’t immediately think of Charlie Croker’s “You’re only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!” as soon as they think of the three minis driving around the streets?

Anthony Perkins stole the show in Psycho!, and it’s a movie that is often quoted over and over again. After all, don’t “we all go a little mad sometimes?” It helps that Scream mentioned this quote, as it brought up some of the best horrors of the past, but it’s not like it needed to for us to remember it! Norman Bates remains one of Alfred Hitchcock’s most memorable and terrifying villains of all time.

For those who want something fun, West Side Story has some great lines. Most of them are wrapped up in song, such as “I like to be in America!” but there’s a heartfelt quote from the very end of the movie that leaves us all thinking about the consequences: "All of you! You all killed him! And my brother, and Riff. Not with bullets, or guns, with hate. Well now I can kill, too, because now I have hate!"

Quotable lines are important in movies. They help people connect to something in the days, weeks, and months afterward, creating a masterpiece that everyone needs to watch again.
