Biggest Slang Terms of 2025

Last year saw Gen Alpha start to have their own terminology and slang. Yes, Gen Alpha are young enough to get their own secret code, with the eldest of the generation turning 14 in 2026. However, there are many terms that have stretched from one generation to the next, just as happened in the past.

There are certain slang words that are easy to figure out, as well. One of the prominent slang terms of 2025 was “delulu,” which is short for delusional. It’s not all that surprising to see a long word cut down to make it quicker and easier to say.

You’ll also hear of people “crashing out” or that they “crashed out,” and no, it doesn’t mean they’re falling asleep like it used to. Now, it means they’re having a dramatic outburst or meltdown. Those who have teenagers in the house will usually hear the slang used when it comes to gaming.

Another favorite of the year is “cooked.” It’s another phrase that is relatively easy to figure out, as it means someone who is in deep trouble, or when a relationship is ruined. Want it put in a sentence? Try “You’re cooked, bruh!” Yes, that comes straight out of the words of the teen in this household, who is often on calls with her friends while they game.

There are a few other terms that were popular in 2025—and they’re growing even more in popularity this year. “Aura” is one of them, which, when you start to think of what the word “aura” means, you can figure out the meaning. It all comes down to the way people describe a person’s vibe or energy. It can be connected to clothing, hairstyle, behavior, and more.

Then there’s one that will make you take a second to figure out: “Left no crumbs.” It sounds like we’re talking about food, right?

“Left no crumbs” is slang that means something was done perfectly, or someone looks flawless. They “ate” (another term to watch out for) and “left no crumbs” because of how perfect they are.

Slang is always changing, and it’s going to be fun to see what Gen Beta bring to the table.
