The Most Memorable of Sitcom Neighbors
There are always going to be some neighbors that stand out more than others, and it’s all thanks to their quirks. One of those is Wilson Wilson from Home Improvement. No, that is not a typo! For those who don’t remember, Wilson has the same first and surname, but the most quirky thing about him is that we never get to see his face.
That was until the very end, when fans finally got to see his entire face. Yet, he would always be one we’d love to get to know, as he doled out some of the best wisdom.
Of course, Steve Urkel will always be remembered. The Family Matters neighbor became a staple on the TV series. At first, he was an annoying boy who would drive the Winslow family crazy. He couldn’t take no for an answer, and he was sure he was always right. There was still something endearing about him, though, and that came out when it was clear he was fiercely loyal to this family.
Another annoying neighbor was Kimmy Gibbler on Full House. She was loud, and she was eccentric, but she was also the loyal best friend to DJ Tanner. Sure, she would come into the house unannounced, and she would eat the food without asking, but isn’t that something best friends do? They end up becoming part of the family, and Kimmy was certainly that!
How about the nosy busy-bodies? Bewitched wouldn’t have been the boat-load of fun it was without Gladys Kravitz. She would constantly snoop, and she helped to continue the trope of the nosy neighbor throughout the ‘60s. Of course, her need to snoop could have been a problem for the Stevens family, as it would mean she’d see some of the magic.
Fortunately, her husband just thought she was crazy, because when he looked, there was no evidence to be seen. Sometimes, it was hard not to feel for her when she would come across as someone who didn’t quite have her head on straight, considering what it would have really meant in that time.
