Best Elton John Songs to Listen to on a Road Trip

When it comes to taking a road trip, you need to make sure you have the best music. John has plenty of great favorites, and the best place to start is “Tiny Dancer.” Did you know the 1971 track wasn’t even that big of a hit? It reached just No. 41 on the U.S. Billboard charts when it was first released. Pop culture references, such as 2000’s Almost Famous, helped it gain traction over the years.

Yet, a song that John didn’t think would make it big was “Bennie and the Jets.” The 1974-release track has a fun piano riff and a live audience vibe to it, and it was his second No. 1 hit in the United States. This song almost wasn’t released as a single.

As for his first No. 1 hit in the U.S., “Crocodile Rock” is a must for a road trip. It’s a fun throwback to the 1950s, while also adding a layer of the ‘70s and John’s vibrant vibe to the sound. And then, you’ll definitely want to follow up with the 1983 track “I’m Still Standing,” which also has a similar feel.
