Gabor Kasza’s new photography book can't be described as light reading material. As Co. Design reports, the publication comes with a solid concrete slipcase that reflects the subject matter within its pages.
The Budapest-based photographer captures landscapes and architecture. Two years ago, he embarked on a project titled “Concrete passages about closeness and coldness…and a couple of songs," which documents the stark beauty of concrete spaces. He’s now raising money through Indiegogo to publish those images as a book.
When readers aren’t flipping through its pages, they can tuck the book into the sturdy concrete cover that comes with it. The shell is four millimeters thick and weighs just over three pounds—maybe a little too heavy to take on the subway, but perfect for your coffee table. The outside is resistant to water, oil, and UV light and the inside is lined with red paper. Kasza writes, “The look of the book gives the same unfinished impression as the buildings .”
Nine days remain in the crowdfunding campaign, and so far, Kasza has raised 20 percent of his €7000 ($7680) goal. A book with the slipcase can be reserved for a pledge of roughly $150, with shipping set for this June.
