For tonight's Disney movie marathon, Turner Classic Movies will skip the staples modern audiences are familiar with in favor of some deeper cuts. The network's "Treasures From the Disney Vault" programming block, airing Monday, October 15, will feature both Mickey Mouse shorts as well as live-action classics from the pre-Disney renaissance era.
The showcase kicks off at 8 p.m. with the 1937 cartoon Magician Mickey followed by the Angela Lansbury musical Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971). Viewers can stick around to watch the 1940 short The Little Whirlwind and 1986's Flight of the Navigator at 10:15 p.m. The Black Hole (1979), The Cat From Outer Space (1978), and The Last Flight of Noah's Ark (1980) are also on the schedule.
TCM airs its Treasures From the Disney Vault block several times a year, with selected titles showcasing the diversity of Disney's filmography. In addition to shorts and features, TCM also likes to highlight nature films, documentaries, and made-for-television movies from the studio.
Viewers can catch Treasures From the Disney Vault, hosted by film critic Leonard Maltin, on TCM at 8 p.m. EST. In the meantime, brush up on these facts about your favorite Disney films.
