Disney Will Kick Off Star Wars Day With This Limited-Edition Collectible Lightsaber Key
With the recent debuts of The Mandalorian, The Rise of Skywalker, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and the highly anticipated last season of The Clone Wars animated series, Star Wars fans have had a lot of content to digest over the past few months. But the real highlight of the yearly Star Wars calendar usually comes on May 4—a.k.a. Star Wars Day.
Star Wars Day is typically reserved for a flood of merchandise sales, countless events around the globe, and special announcements about upcoming projects, and this year should be no different. To kick things off, Disney will be releasing a limited-edition Star Wars key over on ShopDisney. This is part of the company’s ongoing line of collectible keys based on their biggest properties like Frozen II and Aladdin, along with special promotions like a Tigger key celebrating Leap Year and one that was released for Minnie Mouse’s 90th birthday.
This key is, of course, modeled on a lightsaber and will be available in limited quantities at 10 a.m. EST for $12.99. As with anything that gets released on Star Wars Day, don’t expect these to last long.
The key is far from Disney’s only offering on Star Wars Day—the company will also be celebrating the 40th anniversary of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, which was released on May 21, 1980. Though nothing about that campaign is known yet, Disney will reveal more on May 4, including the announcement of new products to go along with the anniversary.
