Stuntmen and women have a pretty tough job. They put their well-being and sometimes even their lives on the line to jump out of buildings and cars. One of the craziest things they do? Being set on fire.
James Armstrong is a professional stuntman who has appeared in dozens of movies, including Mission Impossible III, Jack Reacher, and Thor. When the second-generation stuntman is getting ready to be set aflame, he dons several layers of clothes, alternating between wet and dry, then gets coated in a special gel that will protect him from the flames for a period of time. He follows this with a meditation ritual and focuses on his breathing. While he still gets nervous, he understands that focus is the only way he can get through the task. You can see how Armstrong prepares in the video above.
