The middle of summer is usually considered prime carousel time for anyone inclined toward recreational circular motion. To residents in Latvia though, it not only doesn’t need to be summer—you don’t really need a proper carousel at all.
Using a couple of chainsaws, chisels, an outboard motor, and a little ingenuity, the folks in the video above created a spinning ice carousel on water. After the ride is built, skaters take to the ice and outfit the carousel with a table, chairs, and a national flag—which is fitting adornment, because the tricked-out ice ride is definitely something to be proud of. Not to mention a perfect visual antidote to the scorching summer heat.
