From the time the airline attendant wraps a white tag around the handle of a bag to the time your hearts swells with relief as it drops onto the carousel at your final destination, your luggage goes on quite the journey of its own.
New behind-the-scenes footage from Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport offers a front seat view to that voyage, with a camera mounted on top of a bag as it travels through the airline pipeline. It’s a whirlwind roller coaster of trucks and conveyor belts, with a notable lack of human beings.
If you’ve got the stomach for it, Schipol also has a 360° interactive version. Now we can all better visualize where our luggage might be when the spinning carousel halts without having delivered our precious cargo.
