If imitation really is the sincerest form of flattery, then Twitter bot @deepforger has been doling out a lot of compliments lately. The bot adopts the styles of famous artists and applies them to new photographs. Created by Alex J. Champandard, this bot is currently taking requests. To get your picture arti-ified, tweet the photo in question as well as some reference art. The bot will use the style of the art to recreate your submitted photo. For example, if you submit a picture of your cat along with something by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, you'll get a pseudo painting that looks like your pet was painted by the Impressionist painter himself.
While these forgeries aren't likely to fool even the most amateur art critics, the right combination will probably impress your friends. You can see what other people had in mind, or try to submit one of your own. There's even a handy guide available to help you get the most out of the experience. Judging by the results, it looks like landscapes and animals look a lot better than human portraits.
