This weekend, Muggles get to catch up with some old fictional friends—Harry Potter and his wizard pals—for the first time in nearly a decade. A new installment of the franchise, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, is slated for a much-anticipated midnight release on July 31st.
Word to the wise (or erstwhile Potter fans): Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is not a new book. Instead, it’s the rehearsal script of a play that explores how Harry’s adult life unfolds years after he’s defeated Lord Voldemort—marriage, kids, government job, and all. The play is based on an original story created by J.K. Rowling, writer Jack Thorne, and director John Tiffany. Meanwhile, the actual two-part stage production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child premieres in London’s West End on Saturday, July 30, a few short hours before the script’s worldwide release.
To celebrate Harry Potter’s continued adventures, Adweek published the infographic below. Created by online costume retailer Halloweencostumes.com, it depicts all of the wands featured throughout the Harry Potter series, describing their lengths and materials. The list is bound to get a little longer soon, since Harry has a son, Albus, who’s featured prominently in Cursed Child. He most likely owns his own unique wand—and this weekend, we’ll finally get to see what it is.
