Do you have luxurious housing tastes on a studio apartment budget? If you’re currently on the job market, The Telegraph reports that you can now apply to work as Queen Elizabeth’s live-in housekeeping assistant.
As to be expected, this isn’t your ordinary domestic job. In addition to normal cleaning tasks, a job post for the position states that the housekeeper will expected to "clean and care for interiors and items from carpets and furniture to historic vases and irreplaceable paintings,” all while "aiming for the highest standards." (In short, the stakes are way higher if you accidentally break a dish or can’t get a stubborn stain out of a rug.) They’ll also attend to guests and lend a helping hand during events.
We’ll be up front: The salary isn’t great. The housekeeper will be paid £16,755 (that’s $22,000 in U.S. dollars) per year. However, as the Queen's employee, they will receive some nice side perks: 33 days vacation, a 15 percent employer contribution pension scheme and benefits, as well as free meals and rent. Plus, did we mention they’d be living in a palace?
The position’s hours are full-time, any five days of the week, from Monday to Sunday. Applicants aren’t required to have housekeeping experience, the listing states, but they will need to be a detail-oriented team player with solid communication and time management skills. The deadline for applying is September 18, 2016.
