Cape Breton Store Offers Two Acres of Land to Employees Who Move There
If the hustle and bustle of the big city is getting to you, there may be a job waiting for you on the Canadian island of Cape Breton. The Houston Chronicle reports that The Farmer’s Daughter Country Market on Cape Breton has an amazing job opportunity for anyone willing to move there: In addition to a job prepping food or manning the register at the bakery and general store, new employees will receive two acres of land.
While Cape Breton boasts sparkling lakes and verdant mountains, it doesn’t have many people. The Farmer’s Daughter Country Market says it wants to expand its business, but is struggling to find employees. In order to lure new residents to their tight-knit community in Nova Scotia, the store is offering new employees forest land where they can build a tiny house or small cabin, as well as access to farmlands and other natural resources. The only catch is that employees must be authorized to work in Canada, since the store doesn’t qualify for the Foreign Worker Program.
“We are an established business in the heart of Cape Breton, rich in jobs, land, and potential, but no people,” the store writes on Facebook. “Are you someone who is looking to live a simpler life, close to nature, in an area that still believes in community meals and weekly jam sessions? We can't give you big money, but we can give you an awesome life.”
