With Halloween just around the corner, it’s time to catch up on all your favorite TV show episodes that focus on the holiday. Whether it’s a dramatic monster from the likes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or something fun and memorable like an episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, there are some fantastic Halloween episodes out there. How well do you remember them, though? Can you match the show to the episode title?

Did you get all eight right? Don’t worry if you didn’t, because this was a hard one! Sometimes, we know what happened in the episode, but that doesn’t mean we can remember the title. This is the perfect excuse to binge-watch all the episodes throughout the month of October to get ready for trick-or-treating.

The Delight of Halloween Episodes on TV Shows

Holiday specials are some fan-favorite episodes, whether they cover Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, or even a summer vacation. Halloween is one of those fun times that allow us to reminisce, so it only makes sense that we want to see how the characters of our favorite shows navigate the holiday.

When it comes to dramas, especially supernatural dramas, there’s the opportunity to bring special monsters and storylines. The veil is thinnest, and that creates all sorts of potential. So, the idea of Buffy the Vampire Slayer having fun episodes dedicated to the time of year makes sense.

However, it’s comedy that tends to really take advantage of the fun. Brooklyn Nine-Nine created an entire theme that was followed each and every season. The “Halloween Heist” episodes became those that fans looked forward to, as the entire precinct took part in the high-stakes shenanigans. We looked forward to seeing whether Jake or Captain Holt would win, and then there was the adorableness of Jake purposely throwing things off with his proposal.

Ghosts has since followed suit, with a Halloween-themed episode to look forward to. Even though the show isn’t officially back until January 2027, CBS has made sure to treat fans to a new Halloween special, making it clear that it understands the love fans have.

The Simpsons is another series that has elevated the special format. Every season has the “Treehouse of Horror” anthology series, allowing the show to take on classic horror literature and other movies to capture scary stories in a comedic way. It’s allowed the show to kill off characters without affecting the overall series, meaning creative anarchy is unfiltered.

In the end, Halloween episodes become nostalgic treats.
