The ‘80s Side Characters Who Need Their Own Movies

There are some characters who are more memorable than others. They have even ended up with their own movies, such as Han Solo getting his story told in the Star Wars franchise. However, there are other characters who haven’t got the love and attention that they deserve.

Who didn’t love Sallah from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark? While Indiana was certainly the hero of the story, he couldn’t have done it all without Sallah, played by John Rhys-Davies. Sallah was the one who figured out that the monkey had died from the poisoned dates, meaning that Indy would have died had it not been for this friend. We need to see a movie that brings us the origin story of this legend.

How about Sarah from The Adventures in Babysitting? This young girl was the one who helped convince the mechanic to help them. It didn’t look like anyone would be able to convince him to help a bunch of kids, especially when it was clear they had absolutely no money, but Sarah was able to warm his heart, and the rest is history.

Then there’s Sgt. Hulka, the drill sergeant in Stripes, who came across as one of the meanest and toughest men ever. There was no way that we were going to like him, right? However, he ended up becoming the most important member of the team when it came to getting out of sticky situations.

If it wasn’t for Hulka, John and Russel wouldn’t have known to get the rest of the platoon out of jail. They wouldn’t have become national heroes without his smarts, and it would have been great to see his start in the army.
