As unpretentious, affordable wines have gained favor, so have new lowbrow wine pairings. Whether you prefer Girl Scout cookies, Halloween candy, or Cheetos, there's a wine out there to complement your snack of choice. The folks behind Cheez-Its are well aware of this trend, and they're making life easier for classy snackers by making the crackers available together with boxed wine in one convenient package, Today reports.
The special pairing pack is a collaboration between the Kellogg Company and the brand House Wine. One side of the box is filled with classic Cheez-Its, and the other half contains a varietal blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot. The wine, which has a "red currant aroma" and notes of "juicy red fruit," according to the press release, was specifically selected to pair with the cheddar-y flavor of the cracker.
The limited-edition package will be available to purchase from the House Wine online store for $25 starting July 25 at 5 p.m. ET. The classic Cheez-It is the only flavor with its own wine pairing for now, and there's no word on whether House Wine plans to release combo packs for other varieties like white cheddar and pepper jack.
Having your wine and snack food together in one place is convenient, but having to buy them separately shouldn't stop you from experimenting with some creative pairings on your own. If you're looking for a place to start, here are some suggestions.
