There have been some fabulous witches on TV, whether they’re good or evil characters. Just how well can you remember them, though? Can you match the name of the witch to their show? We’ve got a quiz that will put that confidence to the test.

Did you manage to get all eight right? You definitely know your witches if you did, and if you didn’t, it’s a great excuse to watch the shows you got wrong. After all, some of the witches only showed up for an episode or two. Don’t forget to share this with your friends and see if they’re witch experts like you.

Most Memorable Witches on TV

One of the great things about television is the ability to bring spellbinding characters to multiple storylines. Whether they create absolute chaos or attempt to save the world, witches have a longstanding presence on our screens. They bring incredible powers, complex personalities, and thrilling plot points, and some witches stand out more than others.

There wouldn’t be any other witch without the one who started it: Samantha Stephens. The Bewitched lead brought the delightfulness of witchy mischief and good old-fashioned homeliness. She tried to blend in, but it was difficult to leave her witch side behind, and Elizabeth Montgomery had some of the best comedic timing ever.

Decades later, Sabrina Spellman graced our screens. On Sabrina the Teenage Witch, she showed what it was like trying to live in the mortal world with powers. We got to see her manage both types of studies, while navigating being a teenager.

Speaking of teenagers, some of them only learn they can harness such magical powers in those years, and Willow Rosenberg was one of them. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer favorite started out as a shy, computer-savvy wallflower, but quickly proved that she had the complex skills needed to save the world—and to end it if she wanted.

Willow helped to bring a new type of compelling character arc to TV, showing that being a witch wasn’t just about harnessing the power, but knowing how to manage the weight that came with that.

Those growing up in the late ‘90s had another group of witches to follow: The Halliwell Sisters from Charmed. Now, technically, we’re giving you four witches in one, but Prue, Piper, and Phoebe Halliwell and Paige Matthews all proved that finding out you have powers in your 20s can be much harder than managing them in the teenage years. How do you learn who to trust in love? What happens when demons and monsters get in the way of work? And will you put family before anything else?
