Not all the M.A.S.K. toys looked like vehicles. What does this packing crate turn into?
A tank
A jet fighter
A missile launcher
ANSWER:
This packing crate jet fighter, known as Hornet, was part of an experimental line for M.A.S.K. called LaserCommand. Hornet fired real infrared beams at a truck called Ratfang (Wha?) that had a receiver on top. When you scored a hit on Ratfang, detachable, spring-loaded pieces of the truck would “explode” off, making it look like it had been destroyed. The concept didn't sell very well, so this was the only LaserCommand set produced. [Hornet images courtesy of Albert Penello's excellent site.]

The helmets worn by the characters all had special powers. What did the helmet called “Hocus-Pocus” do?
Create a smoke screen
Make the wearer invisible
Project holograms
ANSWER: In the last series of the toys, called Split Seconds, everyone’s helmet sent out a holographic image of the wearer. In the series, a single vehicle would split into two separate vehicles, one driven by the real person, while their hologram drove the other. Yeah, it was weird; that’s probably why it was the last series. In the last series of the toys, called Split Seconds, everyone’s helmet sent out a holographic image of the wearer.
